“But that’s just what boys do..”

It’s The New “Boys will be Boys” phrase.

I’m not sure where The Tackler heard this phrase, but it has become his go-to answer for everything.

Everything naughty.

I want to have serious words with whoever uttered this phrase to excuse bad behavior.

Me: Sweetie, we don’t throw bouncy balls at your sister.

Tackler: But that’s just what boys do..

Me: You know better than to use your milk straw to decorate the table with milk.

Tackler: But that’s just what boys do.

Me: We do not spit.

Tackler: But that’s just what boys do.

Me: Hon, we don’t hang by the stair railing because you can fall, tumble down the stairs, and require stitches.

"Boy that's just what boys do.."

Tackler: But that’s just what boys do.

Me: We do NOT hit people. We use our words to say we’re upset.

Tackler: But that’s just what boys do.

Me: You know better than to snatch toys away from your sister.  We have to share toys, or put them away where she can’t reach them.

Tackler: But that’s just what boys do.

Me: It is NOT nice to execute a flying tackle off your bed onto the mattress where your sister is sitting and nearly give her a concussion.  Even if she finds it hysterical and giggles because you missed conking her head by mere centimeters.

He might have a point about this...

Tackler: But that’s just what boys do.

Me: We do not pee all over the toilet seat so that when I have to use it, it’s soaking wet. Or the floor.

Tackler: But that’s just what boys do.

Okay, he might have a point with that last one.

So funny! That IS just what boys do. Giggling small sisters really do not help. Nor does your own urge to laugh hysterically because sometimes it truly is funny as well as naughtly 🙂

I am still searching for the proper wording to explain why I am against it, yet his sister finds it hilarious…

I have had to flee the room to avoid laughing hysterically in his presence at some “naughty” things.

I know the long term repercussions. If you laugh, it will be repeated… forever or until something better comes along.

Just ask my first boyfriend who had the “pleasure” of being just the right height for my then 2 year old brother to punch him in the crotch….. and we laughed…

      Ooops.

      Thanks for reading!
