Beware of the Quiet

It’s quiet.

Too quiet.

I run into the next room and find this:

Kyra being “too quiet.”

Kyra is VERY PROUD of her new skill.

Kyra reaches the summit.

And while I love to see her learn a new skill, this one will make me dread those silent moments far more than the usual noisy chaos.

Should I dare to use the bathroom. Or change a load of laundry. Or get a snack for Chase.

Just when I was starting to enjoy the silent moments too…

Kyra finds a new way to raise my heart rate.

The slide might pull a disappearing act in the near future….

Because while I think she can learn to be cautious, having her hang off the edge while her Dear Sweet Angelic Brother* is in the room – given his propensity for purposefully bumping into her while on the ground – is just asking for an accident of the ER variety to occur.

*Chase was napping during this latest event.

**I removed the slide. Then two weeks after this post, she learned she didn’t require it to climb… She is also now climbing up on the kids picnic table should Chase be remiss and leave a toy there for enticement.
