As mentioned in my previous post, The Tackler has developed a fascination with fish.
True, he always liked them as a baby (nothing like a trip to the pet store to hypnotize him), but ever since a trip in May to the zoo, his interest in fish has become more of an obsession.
These photos show you why.
He loved feeding the fish.
And then, he had to try to PET the fishies.
Because nothing says “cute and cuddly” like scaly fish.
After this encounter, my son started saying the cutest things about fish.
“You can hug fishies and kiss fishes, but you CAN’T tackle them.”
Hmmm… I wonder who’s name we usually use in place of “fishies”? Could it be “baby sister?”
“The fishies are sad. I need to take them out of the water.”
I’m not sure where this comes from, except perhaps seeing excerpts of Finding Nemo somewhere. He truly is concerned for happiness and well being of the fish. He genuinely believes that if he takes them out of water, they will be happier.
Why can’t he have the same concern about knocking his sister over?
Then tonight, Daddy informed him that fish have to stay in the water to breathe and we can’t take them out (we’ve explained this multiple times).
The Tackler responded with a matter of fact, “So I can take them out if they aren’t breathing.”
Daddy is still trying to formulate the proper response to that.
