House of Chaos Milestone Update

Because aforementioned “Mommy Brain” is simply a constant hard drive failure where certain parts become unrecoverable, I figured it would be good to have an external record of some of the Chaos Duo’s Milestones.

The Tackler:

The Tackler enjoys rare technology time.

I would have to take more time than currently allotted to look up all of his milestones, so we’ll go with “current things that are cool.”

We bought some tracing cards for letters and numbers and he has really enjoyed this. In fact, just a few days ago, he was writing his numbers on the magnadoodle and doing an awesome job. However, he got very angry because the number 9 “didn’t work.” I do believe he’s inherited CG’s drive for nothing less than perfectionism.

The Tackler has also defeated all child safety devices around the house, except for the magnetic locks. This has been true for at least a year. We even bought locks for his closet door (they have the small horizontal line you can use a knife to unlock) and within two weeks, he’d learned his fire truck ladder unlocked it. 🙂

He loves to do somersaults. After one night of demonstrating them to him, he picked it up quickly. I would love to enroll him in gymnastics to burn off that energy at some point.

He is 1/3 potty trained.  Does #1 very well. Number 2 is just now progressing to the point where it isn’t solely in the diaper. And naptime and bedtime aren’t even close. But at least he’s making some progress toward the end of diapers.

Lil Diva:

I am convinced my daughter secretly worked in private on her skills, because she had almost no milestones until around six months.

She rolled a few times for two days around 4.5 months, and then I didn’t see her roll again until she started doing it in her sleep around six months.

She sat on her own around 5.5 months.

She pulled up on her piano shortly after six months.

She decided to skip army crawling as she hated (and still hates) laying on her belly and began pushing onto all fours around 6.5 months.

She also was able to get into sitting on her own (if she wasn’t too mad at tipping over).

By seven months she was crawling on all fours – which to The Tackler meant she was no longer a baby and was free to be tackled at will.

At 7.5 months she stood up without any help for the first time.

Two weeks ago (at 9 months and 2 days) she took her first steps. Already she has just passed the point of walking more than crawling. Now we’re dealing with the joys of falling on tile floors…

Her top teeth are taking their sweet time, but she got her first two around 6.5 months.

She has inherited my “FOOD EAT NOW!” To those who are unaware of this, it means (when stated to someone) “I need food. I probably needed food 10 minutes ago, but if this situation is not rectified within the next ten minutes I will probably yell and get angry and bite everyone’s head off until my body is fed. So FEED ME NOW!” This means when feeding her, you had best not grab a napkin, scratch your nose, or take a bite of your own food, or she will get very angry. And you don’t want to see her angry….

Ok, the last wasn’t a milestone, but so very true. She comes by it naturally, as I’m told I was very similar as a baby.

The bedtime bell tolls in the House of Chaos. Night all.
